Position Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a skilled and dedicated Creditors Clerk to join their Head Office team in Midrand. The role involves reconciling and processing supplier account payments while ensuring all financial transactions are accurate and timely.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • Education: Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
  • Experience: At least 2-3 years of relevant work experience in an accounting or finance role.

Preferred Skills:

  • A qualification in finance or accounting.
  • Hands-on experience with systems like SAP, BEST, and Readsoft.
  • Previous experience in an accounts department.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Account Management:

  • Reconcile supplier accounts using the BEST system to prepare payments.
  • Ensure all reconciliations are reviewed and approved within company timelines.

Payment Processing:

  • Verify that all payments comply with agreed-upon terms and deadlines.
  • Resolve any outstanding claims or invoice issues before finalizing reconciliations.

Query Resolution:

  • Address and resolve any account discrepancies.
  • Communicate with stores regarding workflow queries and ensure prompt responses.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and other departments within the company.

Skills and Attributes

Core Competencies:

  • Fundamental accounting knowledge.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Exceptional time management and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Honest, dependable, and detail-oriented.
  • Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • South African citizenship is required.
  • Must pass criminal and credit checks (conducted via MIE).
